Marlar's Cafeteria in Magnolia Has Opened My Eyes to Raisin Pie.
The humble dessert, often called "funeral pie," has been low on my list of pies to enjoy in Arkansas. But a visit to Marlar's Cafeteria in Lower Arkansas has shown me raisin pie can be a magnificent, syrupy end to a midday meal.

The Shangri-La Resort is Preserved in Time (and has magnificent pie to boot).

Taco Pronto is 47 Years Old and Now I've Tried It.
Sometime the research I do in my never-ending quest to chronicle Arkansas food is fantastic. Sometimes it's not. And sometimes I get mixed results. That seems to be the verdict on Taco Pronto, a Hot Spring mainstay serving up quick, cheap eats since 1969.

Lost to Time: Klappenbach Bakery in Fordyce.
Klappenbach Bakery in Fordyce was for a long time the bakery standard which most other Arkansas bakeries were judged. It closed in September 2011.
